Run like Champions! The 13th Annual Canes 5K presented by UNC Health and assisted by Raleigh Orthopaedic will take place at Lenovo Center on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at 8:15 AM.
This isn't your average 5K; it's a Canes community celebration! This year's event will include a 5K route around Lenovo Center and surrounding areas, two Caniac kids dashes, inflatables, Kona Ice, Travlin' Tom's Coffee, a refreshing cool-down zone, and much more. You won't want to miss the opportunity to interact with Canes players along the route, as well as appearances by Canes alumni, our TV Crew, and Stormy. Whether you're racing for your personal best or just joining for the fun, there's something for everyone... including your four-legged friends!
Your Canes 5K race registration will include:
- One (1) ticket to a 26-27 Canes home game*
- Commemorative t-shirt & sticker
- Personalized race bib
- A post-race breakfast, courtesy of US Foods and Lenovo Center staff
- A complimentary post-race beer, courtesy of RH Barringer (21+ only)**
**Must have a valid ID present at both packet pickup and on race day.
Participants are strongly encouraged to pick up their packets before race day. One person may pick up multiple participants' packets (a maximum of 5 at a time), but must have a photo of each additional participant's photo ID.
Participants may pick up their packets on the following dates and times at the Lenovo Center box office.

Canes Game Ticket Details
Each Canes 5K participant (excluding Caniac Kids Dash and Full-STM registrations) will receive one (1) upper-level ticket as part of their registration. There will be a list of predetermined 26-27 season home games that participants can select from in an email shortly after race day.
- 7:15 AM - 7:45 AM - Limited packet pick-up outside, to the left of the Lenovo Center VIP Entrance
- 8:15 AM - Pre-race kick-off
- 8:25 AM - Caniac Kids Dashes
- 8:45 AM - Canes 5k presented by UNC Health and assisted by Raleigh Orthopaedic
- 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM - Post-race stretch with Stormy, award ceremony, and drawing for raffle prizes
- 9:00 - 11:30 AM - Post-race breakfast for all registered participants, compliments of US Foods and Lenovo Center staff
Parking
Parking for the Canes 5K is free! Please enter the Lenovo Center parking lots via Gate E, off Edwards Mill Rd. All other gates will be locked for the safety of our participants on the race route.

Race Awards and Prizes
Awards and prizes will be presented to the top overall male and female runners and the top male and female runners from each age group. To spread the love, the overall winners are not eligible for age group awards. Race winners will be determined by gun time. Age group winners will be determined by chip time.

- The overall male and female winners will receive a trophy and a Carolina Hurricanes team-signed replica stick!
Age Group Winners
The top overall male and female runners from each age group below will receive a trophy.
- 19 and under
- 20-29
- 30-39
- 40-49
- 50-59
- 60 and over
All guests must enter through Gate E, off Edwards Mill Road, and park in the West 5000 or 6000 lots. All other parking lots will be blocked off for participants' safety.
Where do I go when arriving for the race?
Upon arrival at Lenovo Center, through Gate E, you will be directed by parking attendants to the appropriate parking lots. Parking is free! If you need to pick up your packet, please arrive no later 7:30 AM. If you picked up your packet before race day, the pre-race ceremony will begin at 8:15 AM, followed by the Caniac Kids Dashes at 8:25 AM, and the Canes 5k at 8:45 AM.
Can I make a race team?
Yes! You can create and/or join a race team when completing your registration.
Can I sign up for the Canes 5k on the day of the race?
No, all registrations will close on August 24th unless the race sells out sooner.
How and when do I pick up my packet?
You will have several opportunities to pick up your packet. Runners are strongly encouraged to pick up their packets before race day! Runners can pick up their packets on the following dates and times in the Lenovo Center's box office lobby.

Can I change my t-shirt size at packet pickup?
No, we will not have extras of any size. T-shirt sizes will be youth and men's only. Please select the size when registering that will fit you best!
Will I be timed during the race?
Yes, all 5k participants will have a timing chip placed on their bib.
Will there be water on the course?
There will be two (2) water stations along the course! Please bring your own additional source of water and/or a sports drink. If you are bringing a dog, please bring water and a portable bowl for them too!
Can I run with a stroller or a dog?
Yes, baby Caniacs and furricanes are welcome to join! We kindly ask that you start behind all runners and walkers who do not have a stroller or dog.
Can family and friends attend the race?
Yes, friends and family are welcome to come and cheer you on! There will be a dedicated cheer section and inflatables near the course. Friends and family may not receive a post-race breakfast or beverage, but they may purchase Kona Ice and/or Travelin' Toms.
Is the post-race breakfast for the public?
No, the post-race breakfast is for 5k participants only. Another great reason to sign up!
