New intermediate routes
Based on survey feedback, we are adding intermediate (~45 mile) routes each day for folks who are looking for something between the ~30 mile short route and the ~60 mile medium route.
Thursday and Friday routes "swapped"
We have traditionally headed northeast toward Round O on Thursday, and West toward Ruffin on Friday. We swapped those directions so that the riders whose first day is Friday will have a chance to see new territory.
Revised start times
We've adjusted the start times a bit... On Thursday and Friday, the long route will start from the Farmers' Market at 8:00am, the medium and intermediate at 8:30, and the short at 9:00. Each will be led out of town by a police escort.
On Saturday, the long and medium routes will start from the Farmers' Market at 8:00, and the Intermediate and Short routes will start at 9:30 from Crosco Express in Green Pond.
On Sunday, all routes will start from the World Grits Festival HQ in St. George at 8:30, and lunch (shrimp & gruts) will be served there.
Sunday routes and Iron Butt Trophies
The Sunday routes will return St George and include the popular church camp sites we've visted in the past. Our longest route that day will be the medium route (i.e., no long route), so the Iron Butt Trophies will be awarded Saturday night right after dinner for those courageous riders who have completed centuries on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
