We need your help to put on a great 2026 Littleton Road Race! Volunteers make it happen! Race day is Sunday, September 20, 2026.

There are pre-race, race day and post race volunteer positions.

Early Bib and t-shirt Hand Out - (Pre-Race) Saturday

Runners for the 1 mile and 5K can pick up their bib, t-shirt and swag bags at Fay Park, the day before the race.
Assign bib numbers using an app on your phone. You must have a phone and install an app for this.

You will also give out t-shirts to the registered volunteers.
This is also the time to assemble the swag bags.

Fay Park set up - Race Day

In the morning on race day, we set-up and position tents, tables, chairs, trash barrels, temporary fencing, etc. and also hang signs and make sure we have everything in place for a perfect race. You might be asked to fill in other areas, like registration, bib hand out, food set up, etc.

Cone setters, course sweepers (pre race) - Race Day

Cone Setters set up the cones along the 1 mile course. A map is provided to show where the cones are placed.
A document describes the cone placement with additional details and a picture.

Car or truck is required.

Course sweepers will walk or ride the 5K course in advance and ensure there is no road kill or hazards.

Course marshalls - Race Day

Marshalls are positioned at various locations along the race course, and direct runners so they do not get lost.

You will be given an area to monitor for the duration of the race.
You need a cell phone to communicate with the coordinators.
Flags will be provided to direct the runners.
Stay at your place until the "Sweeper" comes through.

After 5K, move all cones to the side of the road.

Positions: Fay Park, Foster St., Harwood Ave, Tahattawan Rd, Mill Rd.

National Anthem Singer - Race Day

The National Anthem is sung before the 5K.
The 5K race begins at 2:30pm. Please be at Fay Park by 2pm.
You can sign up, or sign up with a friend.
We will provide the sound system.

You don't have to be a professional, but we love race photos!

We like to have the starting line (1 Mile and 5K) and 2 Mile water stop, or candids along the course.

Volunteer Tent, Bag & Bicycle Check, Food Table - Race Day

You will be at the volunteer and bag & bike check tent. As volunteers arrive, you will check their names off the list, give them their t-shirt and send them to their designated location.
At least one adult is needed, to coordinate. Responsible for taking the bag / bike, tagging it with the racer's bib number and placing the items in a secure location.
Overseeing the items until the racer returns to collect their bag / bike.
Food table set up, replenish supplies, hand out items if necessary, keep the area tidy.

Check in racers assign bib numbers using an app on your phone. You must have a phone and install an app in order to assign bib numbers.

As finishers cross the finish line, hand out water bottles, popsicles, give instructions (and encouragement).

Fay Park Clean Up and Food table - 3:00 - 5:30 - Race Day

This is a very important job. You will pick up items at Fay Park, fold tables, take down tents. Pack up race day items, help load items into the shed.
Help pack up the food from the food table.

Ensure all items are put safely away for next year's race.

Clean Up - Cones and Clocks - Race Day

Walk or ride the course, pick up cones, 1 mile and 2 mile clocks.
Truck or car is required.

Return to Fay Park to load these items into the shed for next year.

Place Signs around Littleton - Pre-Race (in August)

You will be given a list of locations to place the Littleton Road Race Signs, to promote the race.
You need a car and the ability to put "yard sale" type signs in the ground.
One sign up slot is for 10 signs. Each group of 10 signs is worth 3 community service hours.
If you sign up for 2 slots, you will have 20 signs and 6 community service hours. etc.

Pick up Signs around Littleton - Post Race (in September)

You will collect the signs that were placed around Littleton. A list will be provided to you.
You will need a car/truck and the ability to collect the signs.
You will bring the signs to Debi.
You will provide the list of signs that you picked up and any that were missing.
It is expected that you pick up the signs no later than one week after the race.
One sign up slot is for 10 signs. Each group of 10 signs is worth 2 community service hours.
If you sign up for 2 slots, you will have 20 signs and 4 community service hours. etc.
